Coulter is a familiar face to the Sharks family, playing for the club from 2011/12 – 2018/19. Throughout his time as a Shark, he was a big part of multiple championship winning seasons. Last season Joe saw action in 3 games with the Sharks whilst playing for the Widnes Wild where he doubled as player-coach. The Dumfries born forward brings experience and a contagious energy that helps him lead by example on the ice.
Joe Coulter had this to say regarding his signing with his hometown club:
It’s been a journey down south, but all roads lead home. I’m excited to be back in the Shark Tank where it all began. The support from this club has always meant a lot to me, and the time is right and I am excited to make an impact.
I can’t wait to rejoin old teammates and meet new ones. My loan spell last season was thrilling and left me wanting more. The energy in the dressing room and the fans’ passion were electric. This club demands success, and I’m ready to help deliver it.”
Joe possesses a tremendous work ethic and great attitude which will be sure to have an immediate impact on the team. He is a versatile player that is truly willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win. Coulter’s experience with coaching will be very beneficial to the dynamic of the club. We are all very excited to have Joe back home and are looking forward to his contributions in the upcoming season.
Head Coach Martin Grubb had this to say regarding the signing of his hometown forward:
Joe is a player who knows the expectations we have at this club and will be a huge help both on the ice and off in the dressing room and we are delighted to be bringing him home. Joe stepped in to help us last year and he showed that he gives us different options as he can play up and down our lineup. He skates well, has a good hockey IQ and his time in coaching in Widnes has really helped him understand the details that help teams’ success and we are excited to have joe back as a Shark.”
