The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the return of right-handed forward, Gordon Horne for the 2022-23 season.

Horne returns after being part of the treble winning Sharks team of last season and it was a season in where after a long career he won his first league titles.

The 33-year-old Carlisle based forward played in 20 league games and contributed 13 goals and 7 assists and was one of the clubs most consistent performers over the course of the season and used his experience to help the team in all situations.

Horne is a product of the Dumfries junior development program and has played over 100 games at senior level between SNL and NIHL scoring 104 points.

Horne is one of the Sharks most trusted players on the penalty kill and is a valuable member of the dressing and is willing to do whatever his team needs to be successful.

On his return Horne stated “I am happy to be back especially on the back of last season. I really enjoy the group we have and the role I play in this team and hope to continue to play my part in helping us compete for every trophy. Last year was special for me as it was my first league title and to share it with this bunch of players was memorable. I love competing and playing in the dirty areas as I know how important the little details are to our team and how it helps us win. I am excited to be back for another season and look forward to being back with the boys and trying to win everything we can. ”.

Sharks assistant Coach Jamie Thomson commented “Horner is a guy who has really helped our team over the past few years. His experience and know how has helped us and he is a player who loves to compete. He plays a 200ft game, chips in with some big goals and is great on the PK. His experience is great in the room and it was great to see him enjoy the celebrations last season as one of our veteran leaders. We are excited to have him back for another year”.
