The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the re-signing of left-handed power forward, Scott Crane for the 2022-23 season.

Crane returns to the Sharks after being part of the treble winning team from last season and playing his part with 4 goals and 8 assists in 16 games but did have to miss the business end of the season due to the nature of his job and is desperate to be part of our continued success.

The 34-year-old, Dumfries born forward is a product of the Dumfries juniors and has played across the age groups right up to the SNL/NIHL and won the SNL in season 2019-20 as well as the treble last season.

Scott is a player who loves to battle in the corners and net front and knows how to use his size and strength to his advantage. He has experience in the game both at club level and with his Navy team which allows him to travel the world and bring that back to the Sharks. He is a huge influence in the dressing room and is someone who demands the highest standards from his teammates and is a real driving force in ensuring the group maintain their motivation to continue winning.

On his return to the club, Scott stated “I am excited to get the season going again after our success of last year. Winning the treble was a great achievement and the boys were fantastic and although I missed a couple of the celebrations, I was proud to be part of this group. I am desperate to ensure we stay focussed and motivated to continue winning and be part of the parties and I know what I need to do to make the impact expected by the coaches. I enjoy competing at this level and want to make sure this team can be at their best each night and we continue to bring trophies to our supporters”.

Sharks Head Coach Martin Grubb added “Craner is a guy that we love having around as he has a passion for competing, battling, and winning. He knows our club philosophy and what is expected of both him and our group and he embrace the challenge of playing his part in our success. He is a player who gives us options up and down the line-up and will play wherever will help the team and when you get a guy who loves going to the net and going to the dirty areas, they are hard to play against. He is looked upon as a power forward, but he also knows where the net is and always chips in with his fair share of goals to help the team. We are happy to welcome Craner back and having him back with us for another year.”.

Craner will wear the number 45 jersey that has become familiar for him for the upcoming season and his jerseys are available to own and loan now. Please email sharkssecretary@aol.com to discuss the owned and loaned packages available.
