The Solway Sharks are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Canadian defenceman Olivier Arseneau on a two-year contract, securing his place with the club through the 2026/27 season.

Arseneau just completed his second season with the Sharks, building on an impressive debut year. Known for his elite skating, endurance, and reliability on the blue line, Olivier continued to be a key figure for the team throughout the campaign. His consistent performances and leadership qualities earned him the role of assistant captain last season.

Speaking about his contract extension, Arseneau said:

I’m happy to have a chance to come back to play for another two years. We have more to prove to ourselves and to the loyal fans and I can’t wait to get going again”

Over his two seasons in Dumfries, Olivier has become a fan favourite and a respected presence in the locker room. His professionalism, commitment, and passion for the game make him a standout both on and off the ice. This two-year deal marks a significant commitment from both Olivier and the club, underlining a shared vision for continued growth and success.

The return of Olivier is great news for the club as he’s not only showed how good a player he is but also he gets the club and our values and that’s invaluable.

He is a smooth skating defenceman who has added offence to his game and he logged a lot of minutes last season and still consistently played at a high level all season. He loves it here and when we knew he was open to a return for 2 more years we knew we had to make it happen and I think we will see Olivier get even better over this period as he helps lead our team with his performances and professionalism and we are all delighted he’s back.”
