Preseason Sharks vs Clan

The Dynamic Property Services sponsored Solway Sharks kicked off their preseason this past weekend with a challenging matchup against the Glasgow Clan at the Dumfries Ice Bowl. These games provided Sharks fans with their first glimpse of the new roster, facing off against Elite League-level competition.

As expected, the differences between the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) were evident, with the Glasgow Clan securing victories in both games—an 8-1 win on Saturday and a 7-2 win on Sunday. However, despite the losses, there were plenty of positives for the Sharks. They demonstrated their ability to compete against a strong Elite League team, which will serve as valuable experience as they prepare for their second season in the NIHL.

Solway Sharks captain Liam Stenton shared his thoughts on the weekend’s performance:

I am really proud of the boys for the performances at the weekend. We were never going into those games expecting to win, we played the game period by period and shift by shift. There will be a lot of teaching points from the games, and this is what preseason is all about. Big thanks to all the fans that attended the games at the weekend, it was great to play in front of you all again! Lets pack the Shark Tank out again this weekend and make a sell out more of a regular occurrence”

The weekend also marked a significant milestone for the Solway Sharks, as a record-breaking 1,200 fans filled the Dumfries Ice Bowl on Saturday night. Sunday’s match saw another strong turnout with 1,154 fans, bringing the total to 2,354 supporters over the two days. The enthusiasm from both fanbases was electric, adding to the excitement of seeing the new Sharks squad back in action.

The Sharks’ preseason continues this coming weekend as they host the Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday, September 1st. The puck drops at 5:00 pm, with doors opening at 3:30 pm. Don’t miss out—get your tickets now at https://sharksihc.com/tickets/ or in person at the Dumfries Ice Bowl.
