The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the return of last seasons Coaches Player of the Year, Stuart Kerr for the 2019/20 season.
Stuart is a smooth skating defenceman who is good on the puck and has developed into a key player on the Sharks blue line.
He is a product of the Solway Sharks junior development program and has represented Scotland as well playing for GB 18’s and 20’s in world championships. Stuart is a player who’s role within the team has grown with every year and he will be expected to play in all situations next season.
Head Coach Martin Grubb commented “Kerzi is a player we can rely on and he has become very consistent with the level of performance he gives each week. He has improved every season and last season I thought he was great especially when we were struggling with injuries and he really stepped up. He skates really well, is composed on the puck and makes a good first pass and i am happy that we are able to keep him as one of our key players and I expect him to log a lot of minutes this year and keep improving”.
Stuart said “ After what seems like a long off season I am looking forward to icing with the Sharks again this season.
The coaches merit award at the Anniversary dinner was flattering recognition and i look forward to further improving my game in two leagues this year.
Kerr will wear his familiar number 6 again this season as the blue line.
