The Solway sharks are pleased to announce the return of local boy, Andy Craik for the 2022-23 season.
We were able to exclusively announce Andy’s return on the The Southwest Sports Show with Andy Mitchell on Alive radio earlier today and we are thankful to have that working relationship back again.
Craik returns after being part of last seasons treble winning team and throughout the season he really became a firm favourite with the fans due to his work rate, never say die attitude and everyone loves a local success story and Andy is just that.
The Dumfries born forward was a late starter to the sport but has worked his way through the U16 and U19 teams before receiving the call up to the senior ranks and he has grabbed that with both hands. He is a player who is eager to learn, loves to work hard and proved in the playoff quarter final against Nottingham that he can contribute with goals.
He will be expected to continue his development and having played in 27 games last year he will want to contribute some more points and help the team be successful.
On his return, Andy commented “I loved last season and being a part of the treble winning team. We have a great group of players who are always pushing me to improve and encouraging me keep working hard. I know the role I have in this team and want to keep proving I can play my part and keep winning trophies. I started the game a bit later than some but with the coaching throughout the club I have shown there is a way to the Sharks and I want to kick on and contribute on a regular basis and keep winning for our fans.”
Head Coach Martin Grubb added “Andy is a character and someone who comes in and works hard and also pushes others around him to stay sharp as he wants more ice time. He showed last season that he is constantly improving and can step in to any game at any time and help us and he plays in all 3 zones. He will continue to develop his overall game and I know he wants to help this team in any way possible so that attitude will help him. He is someone the fans relate to and the junior kids can aspire to follow to the Sharks and we welcome him back.”
Andy will once again wear the number 22 and his jerseys are available to own and loan by contacting sharkssecretary@aol.com
