Carter Hamill

The Solway Sharks are proud to announce the signing of forward Carter Hamill ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Hamill joins the Sharks following a standout run with the Milton Keynes Lightning, where he played a key role in their 2024/25 NIHL Playoff Championship win and contributed to the team’s Cup Championship success the season prior. The Belfast-born forward has earned a reputation across the league for his relentless energy, fearless style, and ability to disrupt opponents — a player rivals hate to face but respect immensely.

Hamill expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Sharks:

I can’t wait to get going next season in Solway and play in front of all you Sharks fans. I’m excited for the new adventure and everything the upcoming season holds.”

Despite his youth, Hamill brings an impressive track record of success. Prior to his time with MK Lightning, he was part of the Leeds Knights squad that secured both the NIHL Cup and Playoff titles during the 2022/23 campaign. On the international stage, he has represented Team Great Britain three times — twice at U20 level and once with the U18s — showcasing his high-level experience and composure.

Hamill also brings Elite League experience, having featured for the Belfast Giants through a two-way contract, further underlining his readiness to make an impact.

Head Coach Martin Grubb shared his thoughts on the new signing:

We’re delighted to bring in Carter Hamill. I know him well from our time with the GB programme, and he’ll be a very popular addition to our group. He’s coming in off a playoff-winning season with MK, and his intensity is through the roof. He plays with pace, passion, and grit — exactly the type of player every team needs. I’m thrilled he’s now on our side instead of lining up against us.”

With his proven winning mentality and all-action style of play, Carter Hamill is set to bring a new level of energy to the Shark Tank. The Sharks and their fans eagerly await his debut in what promises to be an electrifying 2025/26 season.
