The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the return of free scoring forward, Scott Henderson for the 2022-23 season.

Henderson is back after scoring 20 goals and 28 assists despite missing a chunk of the season with an injury and these numbers show why he is regarded as a key piece of the Sharks offence.

The 23-year-old right-handed forward is coming back after winning the treble including scoring a double in the National Championship game and is hungry for more trophies. Henderson has formed a lethal partnership with Slovak forward Peter Gapa in recent seasons and the impressive form he’s shown earned him a 2-way deal with the EIHL’s Glasgow Clan where he has trained and played over the past 2 seasons.

The Dumfries born forward has represented GB at the Universiade in Russia and has also been a regular contributor for Scotland from U11 all the way to playing in the U19 Scotland v England games and has always managed to score goals everywhere he has played. He is a strong skater who has speed and skill and someone that has an eye for the goal especially in the big games and will be someone the supporters are happy to see back in a Sharks uniform for the upcoming season.

On his return, Scott commented “I really enjoyed last season and being able to bring the treble home and share the celebrations with our supporters. This year we want to replicate the season we had and go one better and that is something I want to be part off and I like the group we are putting together. I missed a little bit of last season with an injury, so I want to try and target higher points return this season to help the team and make sure I continue to develop my game to make sure this team remains successful. I enjoy the responsibility given to me each night by the coaching staff and competing every game and I am excited to get started again this season. The memories of last year are still fresh and this team is driven by success, and I want to be leading the way as we get ready to go again.”

Sharks Assistant Coach, Jamie Thomson stated “Scotty is a player who has been great for us over the last few years, and he is a real handful for opponents when he gets his feet moving and is difficult to stop. He is a big boy and can dominate in the offensive zone and we know that he is capable of scoring goals every night and we will challenge him to keep improving his numbers this year. He knows what it takes to win and is a great guy to have around our dressing room and with his assistant captain role he is growing into a leader and is a key player for us. We know he wants to progress, and we enjoy working with Scotty and are excited to have him back for another year.”

Scott will wear his now familiar number 89 jersey for the upcoming season and his jerseys are available to own and loan now. Please email sharkssecretary@aol.com to discuss the owned and loaned packages available.
