The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the return of left-handed forward, Kieran Hair for the 2022-23 season.

Hair returns after being part of the treble winning Sharks team of last season and is a player who plays a valuable role on the penalty kill and chips in with his share of points.

The 22-year-old Dumfries born forward played in 20 league games and contributed 9 goals and 15 assists and was one of the clubs most consistent performers over the course of the season and trusted in all situations.

Hair is a product of the Solway Sharks junior development program and played a key part at all age groups as well as representing Scotland u19’s on 2 occasions against the auld enemy at Sheffield. He started playing senior hockey at 16 and has grown into the team and is now a valuable and popular member of the dressing room with the sacrifices he makes for his team.

On his return Kieran stated “I am happy to be back especially on the back of the success we had last season and I am determined to ensure we continue to bring that level of success to Dumfries and our supporters. I really enjoy the group we have and the role I play in this team and hope to continue to play my part in helping us compete for every trophy. The coaches make sure I know how important my role is and trust me especially on the PK and I think we done well last year and chipped in with important goals from our 3rd line. I am excited to get back on the ice with the boys and want to make sure we keep the feeling from last year going into this year”.

Sharks Head Coach Martin Grubb stated “Hairdo is a player who really embraces the role we ask him to play and know how much his teammates appreciate the job he does. He is so good on the PK and a guy who is not only a shutdown guy, but he also has skill, grit and an eye for the goal when the chance comes. He is a team first player and is the guy you will see shot blocking, battling in the corners, and sticking up for his team and you cannot underestimate the importance of that type of player. Jamie and I love what he brings to our group and are excited to have him back to help us again”.

Kieran will wear his now familiar number 15 jersey for the upcoming season and his jerseys are available to own and loan now. Please email sharkssecretary@aol.com to discuss the owned and loaned packages available.
