The Solway Sharks are delighted to announce the return of Kirkcaldy born defenceman, Liam Danskin for the 2022-23 season.

Danskin signed on a 2-way deal with the Kirkcaldy Kestrels last season and played a big part in the Sharks league and cup winning teams as well as being an SNL champion with the Kestrels. This season he has made the move full time to the Sharks as he continues to develop himself and is looking for more glory.

The 22-year-old defenceman is coming back determined to keep winning after tasting success in the NIHL Cup with Murrayfield Racers before last seasons successes. His competitive style of play and work rate made him a firm favourite within the dressing room last year and he slotted in like he had always been there, and we all look forward to having Liam with us for the upcoming season.

Before moving to the Sharks, Liam grew up playing in the Kirkcaldy junior development set up before moving to Canada to play at OHA. He then moved home and back to Kirkcaldy before joining the Racers and has also played from Scotland at various levels including the Scotland v England u19 games and he will be looking to use all this experience to continue developing his game and improving the Sharks defensive core in the NIHL1 North.

On his move Liam commented “I really enjoyed my time as a Shark last season and felt I was able to fit in straight away and help play my part in a successful season. This season I am excited to continue pushing myself by playing here full time and it was fun last season winning so many trophies and I want to do it all again and keep collecting the championship hats. I know the boys now and we have a solid defensive unit, and I am sure we will keep getting better and trying to bring success to our fans every night. I know I will continue to progress here at the club and working with Martin and Jamie and I can’t wait to get started again this season”.

Sharks Head Coach Martin Grubb stated “Danko is a player who we really like and wanted here full time. His compete level is great; he plays physical in his own zone and has a desire to continue improving and these are the type of players we want here. He slotted in here well last season and played his part when available to us and it was great for him to get success both with ourselves and the Kestrels especially as the Kestrels have been great in helping him develop. Liam knows what to expect from us as a club, the way we play and the high standards we set and he is desperate to make sure he shows how valuable a player he can be for us. He has tasted success at various levels and that winning mentality always drives you to want more and that is why he fits in here so well”.

Liam will wear the number 49 jersey for the upcoming season and his jerseys are available to own and loan now. Please email sharkssecretary@aol.com to discuss the owned and loaned packages available.
