The Building Craftsmen Dumfries Solway Sharks are pleased to announce the results of the Players Player of the year award for the 2019/20 season.

This award is voted for by the players as they vote for who they feel has been the player of the year and each player gets one vote each but cannot vote for themselves.

This award is always recognised by the players as the most prestigious award as it is voted for by their peers. There were lots of different players who received votes for this award but it quickly emerged that this was a two horse race with there being only one vote difference in the end in favour of the winner.

The player who got the most votes and winner of players player of the year for 2019-20 is our #10 Liam Stenton.

Liam has had an outstanding season on the Sharks blueline and has been one of our most consistent performers despite only turning 18 during the season. Stenton has shown outstanding maturity in his performances and it’s his ability to influence the game from defence, his ability to play at both ends of the rink and his hugely consistent and competitive showings that have impressed everyone this season.

Stenton played 40 games for the Sharks this season in all competitions and contributed 42 points as well as appearing 10 times for Glasgow Clan in the Elite league and got his first 2 career points at that level. His impressive performances were not only at club level as he represented Great Britain under 20’s at the World Championship in Vilnius, winning a silver medal and contributing 2 assists to the teams success.

It has been a breakthrough season for the young defenceman and that has clearly impressed his team mates enough to win this prestigious award and massive congratulations go to Liam on winning Players player of the year and to all the players who won awards.

Also a huge thanks to all our supporters for voting for the awards and for all your likes, shares and comments and we hope to see you as soon as it’s safe to do so and celebrate these awards properly and rest assured we are still planning ahead for next season and will be ready to play as soon as the government and governing bodies tell us we can.

Stay safe and stay tuned for more information as we get it.????
